Christiane Grauert was
born in Washington, DC and grew up in Germany. She studied Illustration
and Graphic Design at the Academy of Visual Arts in Leipzig, Germany.
After her graduation
she moved to Minneapolis, MN where she received an MFA in Visual
Studies from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. Christiane now
lives and works in Milwaukee, WI. Her mixed-media images have appeared
in numerous publications including The New York Times, The Washington
Post, The Los Angeles Times, Utne Reader, Harvard Business Review, and
The Progressive as well as on book covers and posters. She has
illustrated for textbooks and children’s books in Germany and South
Korea.
Christiane’s work has
been featured in various national and international illustration and
design competitions including American Illustration, The Society of
Illustrators of Los Angeles, HOW Magazine Annual Self-Promotion
Competition, Print Regional Design Annual, and Die schönsten
deutschen Bücher by Stiftung Buchkunst.
She has taught at
SUNY Buffalo and is now an Associate Professor in the Illustration
Department at the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design.
